True Blood fans rejoice! Deborah Ann Woll who plays Jessica Hamby on the HBO series, has landed a role in a feature film. According to Empire, the actress will star in the remake of the 1980 horror flick, Mother’s Day. From what I hear the original movie left a sour taste in the mouths of critics, while impressing horror enthusiasts everywhere.
The premise of the 1980′s version centered on two brothers who terrorize three female campers as a means to impress their mother. The more deviant and disturbing their acts the better. This time around the will be joined by a sister, whom will be played by Woll. “Together they return to the house where they grew up and pay a visit to the new owners and their guests.” The film will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, the genius behind Saw II.
Production on the film is slated to start this fall in Manitoba, so it can be released by Mother’s Day of next year. Who would take their mother to see this on that day? I heard the original version of this film received an astounding NO STARS from Roger Ebert when it was released. I’m kind of interested in watching it, just so I can see how bad it really was!
