Matthew Modine I Think I Thought AFI Film Festival LA

Self reflection is a wonderful thing, and it looks like actor Matthew Modine wants to get all Being John Malkovich on the stage. According to Yahoo, Modine has joined a play that centers on a “fictionalized” version of himself. He will of course star as the lead in the production entitled, “Matthew Modine Saves the Alpacas.”

The story of the play seems pretty straight forward. Modine stars as “an actor eager to find a cause that can put him back in front of the public.” The actor’s career has featured such critical and commercial successes as Full Metal Jacket, Married to the Mob, and my personal favorite, Vision Quest! That movie is so eighties and I love every minute of it! Matthew Modine Saves the Alpacas will debut on September 16, with previews by Blair Singer beginning September 8 for a limited run through October 18 at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles.

Oddly enough the cast also includes French Stewart from 3rd Rock From the Sun fame. I wonder how he feels about Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s catapulting career right now?

What do you think of Matthew Modine’s comedic take on his life?
