Sandra Bullock’s Blind Side Trailer

I will admit, I rag on Sandra Bullock a lot for starring in lack luster romantic comedies, but her upcoming film The Blind Side is going for the uber dramatic. The film’s trailer was recently released, and it takes advantage of every opportunity to make you cry. The Blind Side is based on a true story about a mother and a wife who helps a young, impoverished teenager better his life. Tim McGraw co-stars in the film, which obviously takes place in the South due to the strong accents being displayed.

The film is set for release on November 20th. I’m assuming the studio is trying to gain some momentum off of the holiday season. Is it just me or did this trailer lay it on pretty thick? I mean it was really, really melodramatic. They even had The Fray’s song, “How to Save a Life” playing in the beginning. The only thing that could have made this sadder, is if Coldplay‘s Chris Martin came in with some vocals.

I was cracking up. This film looks so stupidly self-indulgent. The poor, dumb, (and fat!) black kid needs a yuppie white family to help him succeed. He never even had his own bed, oh how sad! Hopefully they get him a gym membership as well. My respect for Kathy Bates has significantly diminished.

I saw this movie on Thanksgiving with my family. I knew nothing about the movie I was about to see. I laughed and cried in a theater full of people and blown away by Sandra Bullock and the man who played Michael Oher. This movie is definitely going to win some awards. I never would have imagined she would have chosen such a tough role and also surprised she was so convincing. I will definitely be going back to watch it again and buying it on dvd
