Throw this in the bin with all the other random casting news. Bryce Dallas Howard (an actress I actually respect) has joined The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. According to Variety the actress will come on board to replace an already established character.  She will play Victoria, who was originally portrayed by Rachelle Lefevre. It turns out that there was a scheduling conflict for Lefevre that interfered with another project she was working on, hence she was forced to leave.

Eclipse starts shooting next month in Vancouver with director David Slade at the helm.  Summit Entertainment’s president of worldwide production and acquisitions seems more than happy to have Howard on board with the film.

“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise. Rachelle brought Victoria to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”

I think that is an understatement! I’m still in shock! Over at /Film, they find the “scheduling conflict” story a hard pill to swallow. They bring up the point that back in May Lefevre was very adamant about making the time for Eclipse in her busy schedule, and then this happens? Hmm, what’s really going on? I’ve seen actors replaced in sequels before so this is nothing new. I’m not a Twilight fan in any shape or form so this casting change doesn’t really effect me, but I would like to know how die hard followers of the franchise feel about the old switcheroo.

How do you feel about Bryce Dallas Howard playing Victoria in Eclipse?
