The Austin Film Society and Fantastic Fest have teamed up for a special screening of Quentin Tarantino’s film, Inglourious Basterds, starring Brad Pitt and Melanie Laurent. The screening will take place on August 15 at 9 PM at The Alamo Drafthouse Downtown. The screening will kick off Cinemapocalyse, a dusk-til dawn movie marathon. Inglourious Basterds will be followed by a double feature of repertory films programmed by Quentin Tarantino. The current line up isn’t available at the moment, and won’t be revealed until right before they hit the screen.
Inglourious Basterds centers on the story surrounding the first year of the German occupation of France, when Shosanna Dreyfus (Melanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema. Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish American soldiers to perform swift, shocking acts of retribution. Later known to their enemy as “the basterds,” Raine’s squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of the Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquis, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own.
How anxious are you to see Inglourious Basterds with the genius Tarantino behind the camera and the always talented Brad Pitt in front of it?
