New A Nightmare on Elm Street Poster!

Last week we debuted the first photo of Jackie Earle Haley as the infamous child killer Freddy Krueger in the remake of 1984′s A Nightmare on Elm Street. Today we have another visual treat for you in the form of the film’s first official poster. Once again Krueger’s face is shrouded in darkness and there’s not much to see. I really think the creators are trying to keep his face under wraps until the film’s opening nears. Even at the Warner Bros Comic-Con panel his face was obscure in all the footage that they showed. Hmm….

I'm pissed. There's only one Fred Krueger and his name is Robert Englund. No need to remake this movie because the first and even the second were actually scary enough. Unless they combine the movies like they did for the friday the thirtenth movies, there's no real reason other than introducing the story to a younger generation and money. They could have just digitally remastered it and reopened it in theatres. This is a complete shock to me. I'm interested, but only in comparing. I just hope Freddy still looks like Robert Englund. His voice is a concern also.

Obviously initially concerned about the prospect of a remake, but when you think in terms of the Nolan Batman remake this just might be awesome. Nightmare to me although original and scary always had an element of humour and dare I say sillyishness to it. The remake with new look Freddy (also a good idea – too used to the Rob England to be scary) could be a lot darker, sinister serious etc. Can't wait!
