Sam Raimi to Direct World of Warcraft!
By Krystal Clark
Video game geeks rejoice! You knew this moment would come sooner or later. According to Variety, Spiderman director Sam Raimi has signed on to direct the big screen adaptation of World of Warcraft. The popular game series was originally launched in 1994, and has spawned several successful installments ever since. The last Warcraft game, “Wrath of the Lich King,” sold more than 2.8 million copies its first day of release!
Sam Raimi plans on directing the film after he finishes wrapping production on 2011′s Spiderman 4, which starts filming next year. Legendary Pictures along with Warner Bros will co-finance and distribute the film, which Raimi will supervise the development of. The director stated that “At its core, ‘Warcraft’ is a fantastic, action-packed story”. Warner Bros executive Jeff Robinov followed up by saying, “Warcraft” is “emblematic of the kind of branded, event films for which our studio is best known.”
I have to agree with Robinov on this one. I think the combo of Warner Bros and Legendary will work wonders for this adaptation. For films with such a strong visual style, the WB seems to know what they’re doing. Just look at how they handled The Matrix.
What do you think about Sam Raimi directing World of Warcraft?

I am pretty excited for Raimi to direct. But I bet Blizzard will make the development take 10 years, cause that's their MO.
In the mean time i will be watching this documentary about WoW gamers. http://www.secondskinfilm.com
