Empire has just premiered the new trailer for Director Chris Smith’s (Creep and Severance) upcoming horror/thriller film, Triangle, starring Melissa George. Although the film seems a bit cliched in a lot of ways (omniscience, trapped with no way out, someone with a bag over their head), the psychological horror side of gives it promise. It also looks like it’s well shot and had some money behind it, so it shouldn’t be as hard to follow as some of the other films in it’s genre, although I’m sure the gore will be ramped up.

Overall, it might make for a more interesting spin to a cliched horror film. We’ll have to wait and see….

Synopsis: When Jess hits a seagull on a drive to the local harbor, little does she know that it is a harrowing omen of things to come. She sets sail on a yacht with a group of friends and already things are not as they seem – she just cant put her finger on why. Her suspicions are heightened when the yacht hits a storm and the group is forced to board a passing ocean liner to get to safety – a ship Jess is convinced she’s been on before. The ship appears deserted, the clock on board has stopped, but they are not alone. Someone is intent on hunting them down, one by one. And Jess unknowingly holds the key to end the terror.

The film will be in theaters October 16th.
