How many people does it take to pull off a decent romantic comedy? Garry Marshall’s upcoming ensemble piece Valentine’s Day is filled with actors and actresses trying to ride that He’s Just Not That Into You gravy train. According to Empire, Grey’s Anatomy alums Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane are the latest to sign on for the epic Marshall comedy.
The apple must not fall far from the tree because in Valentine’s Day Dempsey will once again star as a doctor, an obstetrician to be exact. He will be caught in a love triangle between his wife and his mistress, whom will be played by Jennifer Garner. Dane on the other hand will portray a quarterback who’s conflicted over whether or not he should retire.
Filming for Valentine’s Day starts this week with a cast that currently includes Julia Roberts, Emma Roberts, Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher, and Shirley MacLaine. That’s a huge gauge of talent packed into one film. Several of these actors have already worked together on previous projects. Ashton Kutcher and Topher Grace are re-teaming after their stint on That ’70′s Show, Jennifer Garner and Bradley Cooper are reuniting after Alias, and now Dempsey and Dane from Grey’s Anatomy. Not to mention the fact that Julia and Emma Roberts are related. Hmmm, I’m noticing a theme.
What do you think of the growing cast of Valentine’s Day? Are you interested in seeing the film?
