Twilight Saga Spin-Offs?
Just when I thought the Twilight train had a set beginning and end I get the rug pulled out from under me. According to Cinemablend the studio execs over at Summit Entertainment want to milk their teen vampire cow for all it’s worth. The book series only has so many stories to adapt, and like the Harry Potter franchise it will eventually run out of material. Unlike Potter, the producers of The Twilight Saga want to keep their gravy train going by adding possible spin-offs to the film series.
Producers Wyck Godfrey and Greg Mooradian recently spoke about capitalizing on the current vampire craze, by possibly creating new stories that aren’t directly adapted from the books.
“I think if our movies do as well as the first did all possibilities are out there. But right now we need to finish what we have and finish Stephenie’s vision as best we can and then let’s see where the audience demands us to go from there.”
In other words if your tween or teen daughters continue to spend their disposable income on these films they’ll eventually start making it up as they go along. I know there are plenty of characters and “packs” to be expanded upon, but something tells me the already suspect quality of these films will continue to go down. This is similar to what’s been going on with the X-Men franchise. The films have been on a steady decline for years but they keep making them because of their commercial success. Poor die hard fans!
What characters or groups would you like to see get their own film? How do you feel about spin-offs being made just for the sake of money?

I think the book it self could keep on going with Renesmee and Jacob having their relationship blossom once she grows up. And then the drama could return once the boy that is like Renesmee comes back totry to start a relationship with the her since they are a like. And she kinda feels torn because Jacob imprinted on her so she grew upwith him, but she wonders what it woould be like to be with someone like herself. and then the drama develops from there. With Jacob trying to keep his girl, and the halfvapire/half human trying to win her over… I could see it now … Stephanie you can take it and run with it. I just can't wait to read it if you do. But there is no need for a spin off just yet. There is still a nice story line with the one we already have. Lets use all that up first.

I totally agree – but now you've written that, it isn't really the same as Stephenie's own and unique work…..Amazing set of books, A shame that all good things come to an end!

I think we should leave The Twilight saga alone after Breaking Dawn is complete. Stephanie has already told us, on her website, that she is finished with vampires for a while. It would be selfish of Summit to take Stepanies charactors (dreams) and smear the all over the big screen just because they can, besides The Twilight saga books are not the only good reads out there. Maybe Summit should take this opportunity to encourage more young people to read, and let the readers decide the next big sensation. Another while come to take Twilights place, it will never touch us the way Edward and Bella have, but it will come.

I agree with hillary summit should leave it alone after breaking dawn, stephanie has already said she has started thE 5th book but decided to take a break from vampires ans werewolves for a while but I am sure she will eventually come back To finish the series we will all just hAve to hold off and wait but the only bad thing about that is rob isn’t gonna be able to play 17 year old edward forever and the saga just wouldn’t be the same with SomEone else playing edwardS role. So hopefullY stephaniE will decide to finish the books soon!
