Did I miss something? Was Hitman an amazing movie that gained critical and commercial success throughout it’s two week run in theaters? I didn’t think so, but apparently you don’t need crazy things like profit or praise to warrant making another film. According to FirstShowing, a writer has been hired to pen a follow up to 2007′s Hitman, and I have absolutely no idea why.
The studio behind this genius move is none other than 20th Century Fox, who regardless of the first film’s outcome is pushing for a Hitman franchise. They’ve recently hired Kyle Ward to write the script, and no he doesn’t sound familiar to me either. He only has two projects to his credit, a small feature called 3 Rounds and the upcoming Fiasco Heights.
There’s no word if the film’s original star Timothy Olyphant will return as Agent 47, but it’s producers will. Adrian Askarieh, Daniel Alter and Chuck Gordon are all returning to co-produce the film based on the popular video game of the same name. When are people going to realize that everything’s not meant to be a movie? I hope Olyphant doesn’t return because he is so much better than this.
