Wow. Director Roland Emmerich has a thing for destroying the world. So far he’s brought us Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, Godzilla, and now what looks like the best of the bunch 2012. After I saw the first trailer, I was already hooked, but this just brought the end of the world, disaster genre to a whole other level. Yes I know, films like this have been done before and by this Director, but watching a giant wave obliterate the coast is always fun!

Check out the new trailer below….

Who else noticed the flying giraffe!?! If not, go back and watch it again. It’s 1:35 in.

Obviously the wave crashing down, the parking structure being destroyed, the comets hitting earth, and the overall destruction is great, BUT the flying giraffe is the best part.

If you’re not aware about a lot of the superstitions behind 2012, to make a long story short, it’s supposed to be the year that our world ends and EVERYONE dies. This is mainly due to the Mayan calendar ending on December 21, 2012. Maybe they ran out of ink, or maybe…. there is some truth to it. Either way Roland Emmerich decided to make a movie about it starring John Cusack, Amanda Peet, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The film was originally due out July 10, 2009, but was pushed back to November 13th. It might have been because in July it would have had to compete with Harry Potter or perhaps it just needed more time.

Either way, it looks awesome now! You can check out the trailer on full screen in HD on Yahoo.

What’s your favorite part of the trailer? Are you looking forward to this film?
