In the land of Hollywood, every mildly successful movie is bound to get a sequel. If the movie seems especially promising, the sequel is in the works before the first one even comes out. A good example is this weekend’s box office hit, The Hangover; it is getting a sequel! Yay! In an interview with MTV, the cast and director, Todd Phillips, talked about possible plots for the new sequel.

Here are a few ideas they have for the sequel…

Director, Todd Phillips said,

“I’d love to do [a sequel], because I love working with these guys more than anything; this is the most fun I’ve had on the set of a movie…I have some good ideas floating around of where to take it…but we do have a lot of ideas that we’ve been bouncing back and forth — we being me and my writing partner… all the usual suspects would be back.”

Justin Bartha said,

“I hope ‘The Hangover 2’ is just Doug, and he loses the three friends and has to go find them…I have a feeling that’s not what’s going to happen, and it might just be the same thing. Either way, I’m very excited about it; I think it’ll be a great time, just like the original.”

Ed Helms would like to take the drinking underwater. He said,

“I think we would go take a submarine to Atlantis, and live with people that are half-person, half-sea horse,” he explained. “I’d probably hook up with Ariel the little mermaid – because she’s really hot, let’s face it. And there would probably be a little Caribbean crab that sang calypso songs.”

I am not feeling super anti-sequel for this movie, although I’ll need to hear more before I spend by $12.50. Comedies normally don’t do well in sequels, but then again, neither do cliched Las Vegas movies, and this one managed to pull it off.

Fortunately alcohol mixed with funny actors tends to lead to entertaining scenarios, so there are plenty of possibilities.

What do you think? Are you excited or disappointed that The Hangover is getting a sequel?
