I always liked actress Bryce Dallas Howard. Even though she’s the daughter of Oscar winning director Ron Howard, she’s definitely talented in her own right. Because of this it should come as no surprise that the actress has recently finished working on her first feature screenplay. Not only is it complete, but it’s been sold to her father’s production company, Imagine.
According to THR, the screenplay is entitled The Originals and it’s a drama she co-wrote with her partner Dane Charbeneau. The film will be an ensemble piece about a group of twenty somethings who reunite over a weekend in New York. They come together when they discover that one of the teachers who played an important part in their youth has fallen into a mysterious coma.
Dallas Howard and Charbeneau began working on the script a few years ago, and have recently wrapped it up. Charbeneau is the one who showed it to Ron Howard, who thought it would be a nice change of pace as compared to his recent blockbusters, i.e. Angels & Demons. There may also be some interest on his part to direct, since he doesn’t have a set project in waiting.
What do you think of Bryce Dallas Howard’s turn as a screenwriter? Do you think she has what it takes to make the transition?
