Dirt! Huts! An abandoned village! What’s going on here? These photos were taken by a local couple who live near the site of production for the newest version of Robin Hood. The location of the photos is Bourne Wood, Surrey in the United Kingdom. Ridley Scott chose to begin filming in February 2009 in forests around London. The couple claim the set included a huge castle, 2 villages and what looks like a fort. Everything one would expect to find on the set of a Robin Hood movie! According to the couple there was a prop tent which was filled to the “plastic rafters” with extras such as carpets, vases, bowls, gigantic jars, and a lot more.

Check out some of the photos they took below…

The film will star Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett as Robin Hood and Lady Marion, respectively. The tale of Robin Hood is a favorite amongst all different types of people no matter their age or gender. It mixes equal amounts of humor (the chastity belt scene is the funniest), good storyline (the love story between Robin Hood and Lady Marion, being my favorite, and I know I’m not alone! Ladies?) and sword action (to the satisfaction of male audience members) to keep all viewers happy.

From the looks of the pictures, the set is not complete but when it is done, will be more like a small city than a set.  I can’t decide whether a new Robin Hood is really exciting news or not but at least it has good actors on board. And with America in a recession right now, I think everyone can appreciate a man who is known for, “stealing from the rich, and giving to the poor,” don’t you agree?

The movie is set to be released in May of 2010 by Universal Pictures.
