Zoolander is one of my favorite satirical comedies. In my opinion it’s up there with This is Spinal Tap or any movie that the legendary Mel Brooks has directed. The film was the brainchild of director, writer, and actor Ben Stiller and became a cult classic after it was released in 2001. Even though it’s been almost 10 year’s since the film’s debut, fans everywhere have a burning question that needs to be answered. What happened to Derek Zoolander after he left modeling and built the Derek Zoolander Center for Children who Can’t Read Good?
According to /Film, Stiller has been hinting at a possible sequel to the film and already has an idea of how he wants it to play out. In a recent interview he stated that the story would take place 10 years after the first and will focus on Zoolander’s official retirement. Derek will be struggling with the reality that he is no longer a model, but the father of a 10 or 11 year old child. As for the fate of his sidekick Hansel, who was portrayed by Owen Wilson, Stiller says a sequel couldn’t be made without him.
The script for this thing has been in the works for what seems like forever. I don’t know if I’m going to hold my breath for Zoolander 2, but you never know. We all know that sequels can be produced well after their previous film debuts (Indiana Jones, Die Hard, Terminator 3).
I want to see a second Zoolander movie, but only if it’s done right. If it’s rushed and half-assed it will be such a waste. What do you think?
Do you want to see a Zoolander sequel?
