During the opening ceremony at the Cannes Film Festival they showed a nice video montage featuring all the films making their debuts this year. I can honestly say the most anticipated feature has to be The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. It’s Heath Ledger’s final film, and features Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell as his replacement’s in the role of Tony.
In the video montage each film doesn’t really get that much time to shine but the few seconds you do see are well worth it.
You can check out the video montage for yourself below, they start showing the film montage around the 18:30 minute mark and Doctor. Parnassus makes its debut at 21:26.
Ledger’s face is covered so don’t let his scene slip by. He’s wearing a white/cream suit, a white beaked mask, and his hair is a ponytail. He’s looks as if he’s holding court as a carnie at a busy street intersection. He’s asks a very uptight bystander if she dreams, or even better yet “Can you put a price on your dreams?” That is the question we never get to see the answer to because it ends after that. You can watch the video in it’s entirety here.
Watching that clip just reminds me of how much talent was lost with Ledger’s untimely death. I plan on seeing the film whenever they decide to bring it to the states. I’m really interested to see how director Terry Gilliam, and the other actors pulled this together.
