The last prime time teen drama I watched was the fourth season of the CW show One Tree Hill, and that was two years ago back when I was in college. So yeah, I’m completely in the dark when it comes to the networks current mega hit, Gossip Girl. Apparently the young stars of the series are all the “rage” and they’re using it as a launching pad to make some serious career moves. According to THR, Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass) will co-star in the revamped feature film version of the literary classic Wuthering Heights.

Check out who will play his love interest after the jump.

Westwick will star alongside former Bond girl Gemma Arterton as the two young lovers Heathcliff and Cathy. Recently the film has gone through the motions of having various stars and directors attached before finalizing it’s current roster. Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman were previously linked to star as the love lorn couple with John Maybury directing. Now Westwick and Arterton are in with Peter Webber directing a script written by Olivia Hetreed. According to Webber the original material is ”powerful, moving and dangerous love story that cries out to be told on the big screen.”

Didn’t they do a MTV version of Wuthering Heights a few years ago? That’s the vibe I’m getting from this casting. How do you go from Michael Fassbender to Ed Westwick? I’m not even referring to acting, I’m talking about age. I believe Westwick is 21 years old, and Fassbender is 32 so why the big leap? Like I stated earlier I don’t watch Gossip Girl, and I probably never will so I can’t judge his ability. All I know is every time I see a commercial for the show he’s either scowling, or looking as if he’s up to know good. If that’s all he’s got I’m not impressed.

What do you think about Westwick and Arterton starring in Wuthering Heights? Do you think they should make another film adaptation?
