What in the steroid infused hell is going on here?! American Gladiators, the old school brawn over brain TV show that was revamped for NBC last summer is headed to the big screen! According to FirstShowing, the series creator Johnny Ferraro plans on making a film based on the athletic game show that originally debuted over 20 years ago in 1988. The film will be produced by former Legendary Pictures chief marketing officer Scott Mednick, who seems to think a legitimate narrative can be pulled from this thing.

“I look forward to creating a compelling story that launches a whole new set of characters,” Mednick said. There are so many wrongs in that statement I don’t even know where to begin. According to Ferraro the TV series was initially created as a feature film, but took off as a show. I don’t believe one word of that, but whatever he has to say to justify this insanity.
This has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard of, and I’ve heard plenty. If I wanted to watch a group of muscle bound men and women play out a storyline for two hours I’d watch WWE wrestling. I’m against this on so many levels that I can’t even put it into words. I don’t know how it’s going to work and quite honestly I hope it doesn’t. But then again that would insinuate that there is some creative justice in Hollywood, but their isn’t.
Is anyone excited for this? If so, why?
