This week, our DVD shelf is filled with a variety of movies including Bride Wars, a drama starring UFC Fighters, and a horror movie you couldn’t tell apart from any other.

And those aren’t the worst of the DVD releases! There’s also a direct-to-disc movie starring Ron Jeremy!

Of course, there’s also some good stuff in there somewhere. Read on to find out what it is…

Bride Wars

Starring: Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson

This movie is a tale of two careers: One currently bottomed out, and the other ostensibly on top but potentially on its way down.

Look at it:Anne Hathaway is hot coming off an Oscar nomination and huge hit with Get Smart.Kind of like Kate Hudson a few years back when Almost Famous saw her at the top of her game. Since that time, Hudson has been meandering through Matthew McConaughey movies and horrible thrillers.Meanwhile, Hathaway followed her Oscar roll with a thriller nobody saw (betcha can’t name it) and now this torpid farce.

This movie makes you wonder if Hathaway can become the next Hudson, and by supplanting Goldie’s daughter, she will force Kate Hudson to fall even further.

In the meantime, you can buy the DVD to see these two eerily similar careers at a crossroads.

The Uninvited

Here’s a quick game.Guess which horror movie this is.You know you saw the trailer for it a hundred times, but you probably can’t remember which trailer it was.Who it starred, what it was about. It got lost amongst the hundreds of other horror trailers.

Give up?This is the one with Elizabeth Banks in which she portrays a step-mother who kills her eventual husband and her family. Now do you remember?Good.

So if you guessed it was the one with the kid punching the girl, or the father killing people who attacked his daughter, or about an icy wind who kills people, you were wrong. But very close.

Since this is just like every other horror movie, buying the DVD is an incredible value. So cash in on your ignorance

“X-Men”: Volume 1 and 2

Let the summer movie tie-ins begin! Wolverine gets a jump on everyone with the release of two volumes of the old animated series the same week the film comes out.How coincidental!

Of course, this series is an excellent one to enjoy on DVD.In a time before DVR, this show had a tendency to frustrate young viewers with a serialized structure that massively penalized a missed episode.Spend one Saturday morning outside and you’re suddenly wondering why

Wolverine has no claws, or why Magneto is good, or who those five new mutants are.

Now with this pair of 2-disc sets, you’ll never have to suffer that maddening fate again.

Johnny Got His Gun

You may remember the video for Metallica’s “One”.You know, the video with the heavy metal rockers interspersed with black and white images of a man in the hospital, victimized by a landmine during World War I.The movie looked interesting right?Well, now’s your chance to see the whole thing!

In addition, this special edition DVD is loaded with features including behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with the stars, a documentary on the writer/director Dalton Trumbo (a blacklisted writer who also penned the source novel), and a radio adaptation of the original book featuring James Cagney. And, of course, you can also rock out to the video for “One” on the DVD.

See?It all comes full-circle.

Three terrible movies, three new DVDs.Which is the worst?Cast your vote and tell the world!

The nominees are:

Legally Blondes

The Case to Vote for It: Leading off, we have this week’s unnecessary sequel! Now, instead of one dumb blonde taking on stereotypes and obliterating boundaries, we have a set of twins doing it!It may sound like an adult film, but it’s actually rated PG.So now the youth of this country can have their minds warped.

Storm Cell

The Case to Vote for It: So look at the DVD box.It features a massive tornado gobbling up a metropolis like Kobayashi at Wienerschnitzel. And what advice does this DVD box offer in yellow font?“Run For Your Life”.From a tornado? How is that going to result in anything good?

One-Eyed Monster

The Case to Vote for It: This is not a joke. This is a real movie. It’s called “One-Eyed Monster” features Ron Jeremy and the tagline, “If you see it coming, you’re already dead”.This movie actually exists! And, of course, it’s about an alien creature that starts killing the cast and crew of an adult movie. What more could you want?
