The Christopher Nolan sci-fi project Inception is gaining some serious A-list talent. The film which is lead by Leonardo Dicaprio, already co-stars Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, and Cillian Murphy. James Franco was set to join the cast but unfortunately backed out due to scheduling conflicts. That left the door open for another young actor to take his place, and according to THR it’s going to be Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Gordon-Levitt will star as an associate to Dicaprio’s CEO-type. Not much has been said about the film since it’s plot has been shrouded in secrecy. It’s only been described as “a sci-fi action film that’s set within the architecture of the mind.”  Inception will be produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas via their Syncopy Films banner. They’re aiming to start shooting the film this summer so it can make a 2010 release.

Gordon-Levitt makes appearances this year in the indie flick, 500 Days of Summer, and the live action G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra movie. There are no worries on my end regarding his replacement of Franco. I think he has proven his acting talent in a wide range of films, especially in the last few years. Gordon-Levitt has successfully made the jump from a child star of the nineties to an adult actor for the new millennium.

What do you think of Gordon-Levitt’s casting in Inception? Is he a good pick?
