The Nicolas Cage lead, modern day fairytale The Sorcerer’s Apprentice just got hit with a dose of “rock’n'rolla.” According to /Film Toby Kebbell, star of Guy Ritchie’s indie comedy RocknRolla has just joined the cast of Apprentice. Kebbell will star as Drake Stone, a “celebrity illusionist” and bonafide bad boy. He will align himself with the film’s villain an evil sorcerer named Hovarth, played by Alfred Molina.

Even though the film is loosely based on the Disney classic Fantasia, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice takes place in present day Manhattan. In the film Cage plays a contemporary sorcerer who leaves everything in the hands of his apprentice (Jay Baruchel) when he goes on a trip. The novice is given several chores and tasks to perform in his absence but uses magic to get a broomstick to do them for him. Things go from good to bad when the inanimate object begins to develop a mind of it’s own.

Toby Kebbell just wrapped a stint on another epic adaptation, Prince of Persia : The Sands of Time, which also co-stars Molina. Word around town says his character Drake will mimic popular street magician Criss Angel. Now that I gotta see!
