There has been a lot of positive buzz surrounding the documentary film entitled Anvil! The Story of Anvil. I have yet to see the movie but I am anxious to see what all the fuss is about. Anvil is directed by the band’s former roadie, Sacha Gervasi who got his big break in Hollywood by writing the screenplay for the Tom Hanks vehicle, The Terminal. Now five years later he’s directed a critically acclaimed piece and is getting offers thrown at him left and right. Gervasi does have his next scripted project in order, and already has actor Keanu Reeves on tap to star as the lead.
Reeves has been cast in Henry’s Crime. According to ThePlaylist, it’s “a zany sounding rom-com with literary allusions, crime drama shades and a protagonist confronting same major life-altering issues.” It’s described as dark, twisted, but very funny. Unfortunately Gervasi won’t be able to direct Henry’s Crime because he’s already committed to helming a biopic based on Fantasy Island star Herve Villechaize.
I wish I had more to go on than two films for Gervasi. I did see The Terminal and I thought it was decent, but as I said before I’m really psyched for Anvil. I heard someone say it’s like the rock band version of The Wrestler. It sounds like it’s worth a shot. Reeves actually hosted the film’s opening in L.A. and endorses the rock-doc and it’s director 100 percent. Good for you, Sacha!
Does Reeves have what it takes to pull off a dark, romantic comedy?
