Hot off the heels of one of the most successful years of his career, Academy Award nominated actor Richard Jenkins has decided to eat, pray, and love. According to THR, Jenkins has signed on to co-star in the adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoir. Eat, Pray, Love is being produced by Columbia Pictures, and Red Om Films. Jenkins will be starring opposite leading lady Julia Roberts in the feature that will be directed by Ryan Murphy.
Eat, Pray, Love centers on a woman (Roberts) who seems to have it all, but has grown discontent with her life. She sets out on a spiritual journey of self discovery that takes her around the world. Jenkins will star as a Texas native with a shady past whom she meets in an Indian ashram. This is just one of the many projects Jenkins has on his plate. The actor is currently filming in Puerto Rico opposite Johnny Depp in The Rum Diary.
Richard Jenkins is making the best of his recent success. It’s good to see actors who have been around for a long time get their just desserts. The cast of this film is expected to vary in race and ethnicity’s to reflect the book’s international backdrop. The majority of it is set in India, Italy, and Bali.
Do you think Jenkins can bring some balance to Roberts character? Who else could you see as the shady Texan?
