The writing duo of the upcoming film Zombieland, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, were hired by Sony to write the new Spider-Man spin-off. According to the two writers, the script is already being written and is top secret.

“We’re under strict orders on Venom,” Wernick said. “We can’t talk about it. It’s just super secret.”

Although, the two writers did give a little something up. They admitted to being huge fans of the villain of the upcoming film, Venom and are making sure that their research and portrayal of Venom is not half-assed (i.e Spider-Man 3).

Reese stated in an interview:

It’s source material that everybody knows and everybody’s familiar with and everybody loves. There’s a burden on you to meet the expectations of people. A lot of people are curious about Venom.

Though I have no doubt that the portrayal of this Venom can’t be any worse than any of the previous ones, one must wonder what source material they will be focusing on in order to make him the villain of the film. Yea, Venom is a bad guy, but he did have his own series of comics in which he was portrayed as more of a hero who doesn’t follow anybody’s rules.

Once the writers film Zombieland a post-apocalyptic story about people trapped in an amusement park with zombies, is released in October, I think we’ll all have a better idea as to whether the upcoming Spide-Man 4will be worth our time.
