Mickey Rourke may not have taken home the Oscar this year, but he stole the show last night at the biggest event in sports entertainment! A while ago we reported on how the actor was offered to participate in WWE’s Wrestlemania 25. After his comeback role in The Wrestler this seemed like a match made in heaven. After much hype sprinkled with confirmations and denials regarding whether he would step into the ring, we got got our answer. Not only did Rourke appear, but he kicked some serious ass!

Over at I found the above screen cap which shows Rourke taking out one of the WWE’s most popular wrestlers, Chris Jericho. Jericho was featured in a handicap match against several Hall of Famer’s who included “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, and Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka. In nothing short of a miracle, Jericho “defeated” all three of his opponents and had enough energy left to taunt Rourke into going one on one. As you can tell in the above photo that didn’t turn out well for him.

Even though this wasn’t a full on match between the two it gave fans a little something to hold on to. I am one of the people who wanted to see Rourke step into the ring. Some felt that it would cheapen his comeback, or spit on the performance he gave in The Wrestler. But how is that possible when he’s giving back to those, who he based his character off of? I thought it was entertaining and I’m happy Rourke doesn’t take himself too seriously.

What did you think of Rourke’s Wrestlemania appearance? Do you think this will have a negatigve effect on his acting career?
