Fox may have pulled the plug on the TV series Prison Break, but that’s not stopping co-star Amaury Nolasco from getting more work. According to THR, the actor just landed a role alongside Johnny Depp in the drama The Rum Diary. The film started production over a week ago, and apparently they’re still casting. That always throws me for a loop. You’d think they’d be done with this pre-production stuff once the cameras start rolling.
Learn more about Nolasco’s role after the jump.
Rum Diary is shooting on location in Puerto Rico, where Nolasco is originally from. He will star as Segurra, the son of a an extremely successful cement plant owner on the island. Besides Depp, the film features Richard Jenkins, Aaron Eckhart, Giovanni Ribisi, and Amber Heard. The Rum Diary is based off of the book written by Hunter S. Thompson, and will be adapted by Bruce Robinson. This will be the first project taken on by Depp’s production company Infinitum Nihil, which he heads with Christi Dembrowski.
Amaury Nolasco has been featured in Transformers and last year’s Max Payne. Out of everyone on Prison Break he’s the one who seems to be getting the most work. He started off in smaller roles, worked his way up and now he’s working opposite Johnny Depp! I must admit I never watched his show. You can only break out of prison so many times before it gets ridiculous. But, either way Nolasco’s career seems to be going strong so good for him!
What do you think about Nolasco joning the cast of Rum Diary? Do you think he can keep up with Johnny Depp?
