Zack Snyder has opted for a brunette over a blond as the lead in his female driven action film Sucker Punch. As we reported last week, Amanda Seyfried was up for the headlining role of Baby Doll. The actress was forced out of the project due to conflicting schedules between the film and her HBO series Big Love. HBO refused to allow the actress time off to star in the movie, therefore causing her to drop out all together. This gave hundreds of young Hollywood actresses a golden opportunity, in which only one would benefit.
According to FilmSchoolRejects, Emily Browning the 20 year old actress best known for her role as the young girl in Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, is now the replacement for Seyfried. The character of Baby Doll is a patient at an insane asylum who fills her head with visions of breaking out with the help of her inmates. The all girl cast features Evan Rachel Wood, Vanessa Hudgens, and Abbie Cornish.
I haven’t seen Browning in her latest work, The Uninvited but I did see Lemony Snicket. I honestly had no idea she was 20 years old. She can pull off younger characters really well, so when I read her name that was the first thing that came to mind. The Australian born Browning will have tough shoes to fill as Seyfried has tackled some great dramatic and comedic roles in the past few years. Whether or not the actress is up to the task is up for debate.
Do you think Browning is a good replacement for Amanda Seyfried?
