National alcohol free weekend is just around the corner (it begins on April 3rd, to be exact), for those of you who don’t know. It is a weekend where one is supposed to abstain from alcohol consumption for a few days. In honor of this particular holiday, we think this weekend everyone should celebrate it this weekend by getting completely wasted, and in honor of that we bring you our six favorite famous drunk scenes from various cinematic masterpieces.
Here it goes…
Ewan McGregor in Moulin Rouge! McGregor’s absinthe-infused song and dance is one of the most interesting drunk scenes. Between there characters he was drinking with and Kylie Minogue dressed as a little green fairy, I think this would be a memorable experience. I don’t even want to imagine the hangover. Absinthe+band of gypsy actors=memorable drunk scene.
Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. What would you do on a desert island? Would you ponder your own existence and purpose? Would you seek God? No, you get drunk, sing, and tell awesome stories. Heck, you’re basically on an extended camping trip. I think being surrounded by water and not able to drink it might be the cruelest joke ever.
Although you may find on a Friday night with no booze, you’ll be saying the same thing as
Will Ferrell in Old School. You know that one guy at the party who is literally 100 times more drunk then everyone else? The more drunk they become, the more they seek attention by jumping in pools and getting naked. Let’s just hope its not you or one of your friends In this scene, Will Ferrell is that guy; the one who revealed too much.
Jack Nicholson in The Shining. This has to be, hands down, one of the most famous scene in the world. It’s pretty epic. Note to self: don’t drink too much around a) people you hate b) ghost are telling you to “take care” of your wife and child and c) you haven’t left your house in months. You might want to kill them after a little while.
Jonah Hill in Superbad. Trying to hit on someone is always a little tricky while drunk. You may think you are being smooth, when in fact, you’re a babbling, slurring mess with stains on your shirt. Nevertheless, this is always super entertaining. The question is do you go save your friend Or do you just leave her there for a little longer? Either way, its all for the sake of humor.
Paul Rudd in I Love You, Man. It’s always good to try to keep yourself in check when drinking. Especially, if you don’t drink often, you are a lightweight, or you are trying to impress the person. Understandably, that just isn’t always the case. Paul Rudd learned this lesson the hard way in the next scene.
