Angels and Demons Sets off Catholic Church – Again
By Krystal Clark
Let the protests begin! A new TV spot has been released for this summer’s Angels & Demons. The film is the sequel to the 2006 blockbuster the Da Vinci Code and will once again team director Ron Howard with lead Tom Hanks. The first film grossed a hefty 758 million after it’s theater run. This film along with its predecessor has been targeted by the Catholic Church and several other religious organizations due to its holy content. From what I’ve seen in the past with projects such as this and The Passion of the Christ, their involvement only brings more attention to the film. It just makes people want to know what the hoopla is all about.
Check out the video after the jump and tell me what you think…
Angels & Demons debuts in theaters on May 15 of this year.
What do you think? Does it look as contraversial as the first one?

I'm (sort of) Catholic, and I understand why the Vatican would put out an angry letter, but I never paid it much attention. It's fiction, and protesting the movie is like protesting any work of fiction. It certainly adds to the exposure of the film. You could make the argument about intent and theme but I doubt that's what the filmmakers had in mind when making a movie based on a best selling book.
