Pulling double duty as a regular on the small and big screen comes with a serious price. Actress Amanda Seyfried has payed the piper and it cost her BIG. According to EW, the actress had to give up the lead role in Zack Snyder’s next film Sucker Punch due to scheduling conflicts. Seyfried stars as the daughter of polygamist Bill Paxton on the hit HBO series Big Love. The series is in the middle of filming their fourth season and the cable network refuses to allow her time off to film the movie.
Zack Snyder personally sought out Seyfried for the lead role of Baby Doll,” a young woman who has been committed to an insane asylum and fantasizes about escaping with the help of her fellow inmates.” She would have led the all female cast of up and comers which include Abbie Cornish, Emma Stone, Evan Rachel Wood, and Vanessa Hudgens. Yes, she’s trying to expand her career beyond Disney. Sucker Punch will be a re-teaming for Woods and Hudgens, both actresses appeared in the indie drama Thirteen back in 2003. As for Ms. Seyfried, she can be seen in Diablo Cody’s next flick Jennifer’s Body alongside Megan Fox.
I feel kind of bad for the girl. She’s a really talented actress who has good range. She can play anything from the girl next door to the killer down the street. Yet, unfortunately for her HBO won’t budge. Maybe next time.
Who should replace Seyfried? Who else can lead a group of badass chicks through an insane asylum?
