This is a great year for comedies. We have I Love You, Man, Observe and Report, Monsters Vs. Aliens, and then Year One. I have very high expectations for this film and if it’s anything like this trailer, I don’t think I’ll be disappointed.
I mean, we all know Jack Black has it in him to lead a comedy and Michael Cera is good in everything he’s in. Put them in a biblical comedic piece with a supporting cast that includes Paul Rudd and David Cross as Cain and Able and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Isaac, with a screenplay by Harold Ramis (Groundhog Day), Gene Stupnitsky (“The Office”), and Lee Eisenberg (“The Office”), and it’s hard not to fail.

When there are two leads in the film, I always feel like the stronger character gets the last line, and in this case Cera has beat out Black, which says a lot about both actors. Although, personally, I’m excited to see both of them together. They come from two very different styles of comedy, Black likes to go over the top and Cera likes to underplay everything, so it will be interesting to watch the two work together.
What do you think? Have I over-hyped it?
