Poppa Pitt’s got a new acting gig and he’s bringing one of Hollywood’s most talented young actresses with him. According to Variety, Brad Pitt has signed on to star in a romantic comedy based off of the book Important Artifacts and Personal Property from the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion, and Jewelry. Yes, that’s the title of the book, and I’m pretty sure their going to shorten it for film marketing purposes. Pitt will star opposite Natalie Portman who actually brought the book to the actor’s attention.
Paramount Pictures just bought the rights to the book Tuesday night, and Brad Pitt’s Plan B shingle will be producing along with Portman’s Handsomecharlie Films. Here is a short description of the story that will feature Pitt and Portman as its leads.
The book takes the form of Sotheby’s-like estate auction catalog, with 325 entries and photographs depicting items that reveal the private moments and the rise and fall of a four-year relationship between the fictitious couple Hal Morris (a 40ish photographer) and Lenore Doolan, (a New York Times food columnist in her late 20s).
Paramount, Pitt and Portman must have had their eyes on this book well before it was released. Important Artificacts was just published by Farrar Straus & Giroux this year. Damn, they work fast! This film is one of the few confirmed casting reports surrounding Natalie Portman. She has been recently linked to star in the upcoming Kenneth Branagh comic adaptation Thor. Let’s hope that’s a rumor. Pitt on the other hand will be featured in Quentin Tarantino’s much talked about World War II drama, Inglourious Basterds.
Do you think Pitt and Portman will make a good onscreen team?
