Below are this week feature film, TV, special edition and horrible straight-to-DVD releases. Check them out below…

Starring: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

Okay. So the phenomenon is finally on DVD. Let the 13-year-old girls and those whose brains are still stuck in adolescence rejoice. Really, this DVD release is about as exciting as a film of a tree growing finally hitting the video store shelves. Come on. Why do we all feed this insipid beast that is built purely on hype and not quality at all? Stephen King really said it best when he pointed out the difference between “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” is that J.K. Rowling can write and Stephanie Meyers cannot. This is the movie equivalent.

Though no amount of bad press will ever stop people from buying this two-disc set.

“JAG”: Season 8

Every generation or so there’s a massive TV hit that nobody actually watches. Well, people actually watch them, it’s just nobody anybody’s ever met. Right now, that phenomenon is the top ten hit “Navy: NCIS”. In the 90s, that honor belonged to “JAG”, a show routinely in the top ten but with buzz equivalent to a show cancelled the previous decade.

Luckily, the DVD releases mean we can all actually watch a show that was supposedly a huge hit. Though no anecdotal evidence exists to support that claim.

Fast and Furious Movie Cash

It seems this week studios opted against releasing any actual special edition DVD’s of classics we love and instead went down the movie cash road. That is, a DVD containing free tickets to the soon-to-be classic “Fast and Furious”. The selection of DVD’s is widespread, spanning the entire Rogue Pictures catalog almost regardless of whether the film has anything to do with the upcoming Vin Diesel vehicle. So there are plenty of ways for all movie fans to hit the road with Paul Walker.

Ghetto Pirates

Just look at this cover. Look at it. That guy looks like Flavor Flav’s stand-in’s stand-in. Also, if you look carefully at the cover you’ll see this film stars “Miss Black Florida”. That’s how she’s billed. Not as her real name, simply as her title. That’s a sure sign of a HSTDROTW.
