Michael Bay Won’t Return in 2011 for Transformers Sequel
By Krystal Clark
It hasn’t even been a complete 24 hours since we reported the news regarding Transformers 3 and its official release date and trouble is already brewing. According to director Michael Bay via his official website Shoot to Edit, he’s technically not on board with the second sequel. The release date for the film has been set for July 1, 2011, but Bay never agreed to shoot a film for that time frame. Is there miscommunication between the director and the studio?
Continue reading to get Bay’s reaction to the news…
I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 – they asked me on the phone – I said yes to July 4 – but for 2012 – whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.

There you go! Right, from the horses mouth. Bay agreed to direct Transformers 3 for 2012 not 2011. I knew something was a foot. Especially, when no major cast or writers were attached to the film at the time of the announcement. I’m hoping this is all some mix up and everyone will return for the third film. I can’t see Shia Labeouf or Megan Fox returning without Bay, and if they did it would be because of contractual obligations.
A retraction hasn’t been released by Paramount, so I don’t know how their going to feel about Bay’s take on this. Technically the studio could screw him over, because they own the rights to the film. If they wanted they could make it with whomever they choose. Yet, their smarter than that…….aren’t they?
Do you think Paramount should wait for Michael Bay or continue as planned? Would the film suffer if he didn’t direct it?
