Arnold Schwarzenegger has been linked to this summer’s Terminator Salvation, and next year’s Sylvester Stallone flick The Expendables. The California Governor has been quiet for the most part regarding his involvement with both films, but he’s finally decided to break his silence. According to FirstShowing, Schwarzenegger spoke about his reluctance to appear in the fourth installment of the Terminator franchise, but his eagerness to work with Sly in the ’80′s action homage The Expendables.

As I said to the when they began that I wish them the best of luck, that I’m happy that they move forward with the franchise, I am very happy with where I am with my profession as the governor and they should try to find a way of doing a story that does not include me at all, not even one single shot in it. I don’t believe in that. To kind of have them go out and promote the movie and say you know Arnold is in the movie and everyone thinks that I’m the Terminator and in fact you only see one second of me in there and so I don’t think that’s the right thing to do. And you know that’s the danger of that, and that’s why I feel reluctant to be part of the movie in the first place. So it doesn’t get promoted that way.”

So once again he tells us nothing? It doesn’t seem like he’ll be making an appearance in Terminator Salvation, and if he does it may be a CGI addition courtesy of McG. This explains a lot in terms of the vague promotion they’ve been doing for the film. Even though I’d love to see Arnold back in action, I don’t want it to be a half-ass appearance. I’m not sure about his involvement in this one.

In terms of my favorite guilty pleasure The Expendables, he has confirmed that he’ll make a short cameo with Stallone and his crew.

Naturally when [Sly] asked me if I would do a cameo, which will just be something quick, like I walk out of a hotel or out of a office building and he will walk up and we will bump into each other and there will be some mumbling and then we will walk off. So it will be something very simple, that will be again, just a cameo, so that’s what we’re going to do. I promised him I’d do that and I’m looking forward to that.”

Woo hoo!! I wonder if it’s going to be similar to what he did in The Rundown with Dwayne Johnson? Remember when he bumped into him at the bar and walked away? It was subtle but gave the crowd exactly what they wanted. At least I can look forward to that.

Do you think Arnold is right for neglecting Terminator but embracing the Expendables?
