The cast of Ridley Scott’s untitled Robin Hood project just got a whole lot bigger. According to THR, three actors have just been added to the film as the fabled Merry Men. Joining Russell Crowe’s crew will be Kevin Durand (Lost, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Scott Grimes (ER, American Dad), and Alan Doyle the lead singer of the Canadian band Great Big Sea. Besides Crowe, the trio will be joining Oscar winner Cate Blanchett as the lovely Maid Marian. Find out more about the Merry Men after the jump.

The most famous member of the Merry Men is Little John, who will be played by Kevin Durand (above). John is the right hand man of Robin Hood and his most dependable ally. Scott Grimes is set to play Will Scarlet, a skilled swordsman who is also Robin Hood’s nephew. Doyle will play Alan a Dayle, a love lorn minstrel who is in need of help when the woman he loves is forced to marry another man. Brian Grazer is co-producing the film along with Scott, and both are anticipating an April start date for production.

It looks as if the film is gaining a wide range of actors from mainstream to unknowns. I personally adore Scott Grimes. He’s been in the business since he was a kid, plus he voices Steve on American Dad.What’s not to love? Kevin Durand is another old-y but goody. He’s made appearances in everything, but I’ve never seen him in anything as big as a Ridley Scott film. I’m excited to see who else they’ll pull out of the woodwork for this thing.
