I can now confirm what I already knew from the very beginning, Megatron will make an appearance in the Transformers sequel Revenge of the Fallen. There have been so many rumors, and so much backtracking with the character that I’ve tried to avoid this story at all costs. The film’s director Michael Bay had been denying Megatron’s involvement with Revenge of the Fallen since the day they announced the sequel. Yet, now Bay is confirming that he will be in the movie after all! Looks like somebody got backed into a corner. Find out what made Bay change his tune after the jump.
First off =, the team behind Transformers did try their darndest to keep this a secret, it didn’t work, but they tried. There have been various photos and artwork of Megatron floating around the internet for months, but what happened yesterday is what really forced Bay’s hand. Several sites reported that Hugo Weaving, who voices Megatron, confirmed that he had already done his recording for the role. According to Latino Review he did it a while back, and Bay has been lying about it ever since.
Turns out Bay was fibbing. “I’ve already done it,” Weaving says, adding Bay had told him to keep the news hush-hush. “He’s over in LA and we were working on the video split sort of thing and I had this strange conversation where he seemed to imply it was all a big secret. So there you go – I’ve given you the secret scoop.”
Once Weaving released that bit of information Bay had no choice but to spill the beans. Check out his official response below.
Okay cat is out of the bag. Megatron is back —- but you will only get to see him from the long lost past. We go way back in time as this movie explains the mythology of the Primes. He is not a tank like everyone suggests, but an alien vehicle. But sadly he does not has much screen time.
Really, the cats out of the bag? Its been out of the bag, but OK.
Are you excited that Megatron will be back for a second round?
