Dakota Fanning to Star in The Runaways

Is it just me or is Dakota Fanning trying to pull a Jodie Foster? As of late the young actress has been in talks to star in several edgy roles, including the manipulative Jane in the Twilight sequel New Moon. Perhaps she’s trying to get in good with the Cullen’s, because according to Variety Fanning is negotiating a deal to co-star in the biopic The Runaways. The film already has Twilight alum Kristen Stewart cast as the band’s most famous member Joan Jett.

Fanning is set to play Cheri Currie the lead singer of The Runaways. Currie  was 15 years old when she joined the group, which is the same age Fanning is now. Fanning will be acting with some darker material that will cover Currie’s experiences with sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll. The Runaways starts production later this spring, and will be directed by Floria Sigismondi whom also wrote the screenplay.Dakota Fanning as a drugged out rocker chick? Who would have thought?
