The red carpet at the Academy Awards is always a fashion mecca in terms of designers collaborating with the stars. But here we want to try and focus on the hype surrounding the films not just the fashion. Here are a few quotes from some of the actresses who are present at tonight’s ceremony.

Freida Pinto from Slumdog Millionaire spoke about how amazing it feels to be at the biggest event in American cinema. “This is the happiest moment ever, because all nine of  us are here. It’s wonderful to have everyone back together in one big Slumdog family.” As for her thoughts on the film’s possible win for Best Picture she stated, “We’re not going to be thinking about that right now, because it’s really, really nerve-racking.  Fingers crossed for whatever happens.”

Taraji P. Henson is nominated for Best Supporting Actress thanks to her role as Brad Pitt’s adoptive mother in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. She spoke about all the love she’s received from her acting peers during this past awards season:

“I’ve had so much support, since I got the call at 5:30 am. Rita Moreno called me. Halle Berry has been championing for me. She gave me the most beautiful bracelet with diamonds encrusted and on the back of it, it says Oscars 2009. The great James Earl Jones. Meryl Streep knows who I am!  Hello, I’m her biggest fan! I just can’t believe the people that know about me.”

Amy Adams is a previous nominee who expressed her feelings about the possibility of walking up on stage and claiming the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Doubt.

“I’m almost leading towards the others so I don’t have to get up on stage. I suffer from stage fright and claustrophobia. I’m so cheering for everybody. Viola who I worked with, Penelope who I’ve gotten to know, and Taraji, Marisa are fantastic. I’m just so lucky to be here.”

Best Actress nominee for her performance in Doubt, Meryl Streep arrived with her daughter Louisa and stated, “I’m really glad she came with me. I need back up.”
