Somebodies been bit by the superhero bug, and his name is Jeffrey Dean Morgan. We’ll have an exclusive interview up on him in the next few days for his role as The Comedian in next month’s graphic novel feature, Watchmen, but he’s already moving on the the next film! Although not very far. It looks like he will be signing on for another comic book film. According to Variety, Morgan is in talks to star in the DC-Vertigo comic adaptation, The Losers.

The Losers are a special black-ops team whose members originated from several different branches of the military. In their own units, each one of them at some point or another lost a soldier under their command, hence they dubbed themselves “The Losers.”

As if this group wasn’t sad enough, each one of them are on a hit list to be taken out by the government. The very institution they pledged to protect, wants them dead. That’s gotta hurt. According to IESB, Morgan is set to play the team’s leader, Sarge Clay. His character is known for his signature look of “black suits without ties.”

The Losers will be directed by Sylvain White who’s last feature was the surprise hit, Stomp the Yard. The film will be financed by Dark Castle Entertainment, which means super-producer Joel Silver is somewhere in the mix. Silver along with Akiva Goldsman, and Kerry Foster will produce the film, from a script written by James Vanderbilt.
