Instead of a sequel or spin-off of one of his existing flicks, Rodriguez has confirmed that he will write and direct a futuristic thriller called Nerverackers, which is already scheduled for release on April 16, 2010 [Variety].
There aren’t many details so far, but we do know that the story is set in 2085 and centers on a man named Joe Tezca who is part of an elite unit dispatched to crush a crime wave in a theoretically perfect future society.
Rodriguez sure does like his futuristic/sci-fi thrillers, but I’m crossing my fingers that this one turns out less like Spy Kids and more like From Dusk Till Dawn. Seriously, if he can somehow outfit the story with a Quentin Tarantino role, some drop-dead-gorgeous women (usually not a problem), and maybe a few surprise vampires or zombies, I’m in.
But if I get word that this is another PG-rated, 3-D adventure, I’ll just go back to holding my breath for Sin City 2.
What do you think of Nerverackers based on the available information? How will this film compare to Rodriguez’s other works? Let us know what you think!
