These films in their final glory may at this point be mere glimmers on the horizon, but BeatCrave has the DL on some casting info to hold you over until you can lay eyes on the finished products.
Continue reading below the jump to check out the casting choices for some of the most anticipated upcoming films…
- Seductress Eva Green will star in director Benedek Fliegauf‘s “futuristic drama” Womb, which tells the story of a grieving widow (played by Green) who decides to clone her late husband. Creepy much? Yes. But Fliegauf has proven his prowess with award-winning films before, so keep an open mind for this one.
- Jim Sturgess, Geoffrey Rush, Rachael Taylor and David Wenham are confirmed as the voice cast for director Zack Snyder‘s animated film, Guardians of Ga’Hoole, which is based on Kathryn Lasky‘s children’s book series about adolescent owls… The crew is currently shooting in Australia, which seems strange seeing as the film is animated, but it could be field research… Anyone know if there’s a significant owl population in Australia?
- Still no hope of Sienna Miller taking the role, but it was just announced that Cate Blanchett will play Maid Marian in the upcoming Robin Hood movie, Nottingham, directed by Ridley Scott. Blanchett will perform alongside Russell Crowe (who will play both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham). Apparently, there’s the new twist of a love triangle element between Marian, Robin, and the sheriff, so I guess the moral here is: Russell Crowe is gangster enough to be his own archenemy and still get the girl.
- John Krasinski (AKA Jim Halpert from “The Office”) has just been added to an all-star line-up for an untitled Universal Pictures comedy that will be directed by Nancy Meyers this spring. As a guy who’s relatively new to the big screen biz, Krasinski should feel stoked to work with fellow cast members Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. Can’t wait ’til we get a title and a plot, but the current cast indicates we’re in for a side-splitter.
