  • Slap Shot, the 1977 sports comedy that starred the late Paul Newman is getting remade. Dean Parisot is set to direct the new version, which will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy. Some of Parisot’s previous work includes, Home Fries, Fun With Dick and Jane, and my personal favorite Galaxy Quest! [Variety]
  • Horror extraordinaire John Carpenter has signed on to direct The Ward. A psychological thriller starring Pineapple Express alum, Amanda Heard. [THR]

  • Bill Murray will team up with Lucas Black in the ”period dramatic thriller” Get Low.  The film will be directed by Aaron Schneider, and also stars Sissy Spacek and Robert Duvall. [Variety]
  • George Clooney is producing a new courtroom drama entitled, The Challenge. Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has been hired to pen the film’s politically charged script. He previously wrote the screenplay’s for A Few Good Men, The American President, and NBC’s The West Wing.  [Variety]
