Warner Brothers to Produce a Futuristic Samson and Delilah
By Krystal Clark
Hollywood wouldn’t be Hollywood without the production of a Biblical epic every once and a while. With so many passages and stories to choose from executives have decided to mutilate the story of Samson and Delilah for the umpteenth time. These two have been covered at nauseum, but I”m still a sucker for the 1949 Cecil B. DeMille version (above), that starred Victor Mature and Hedy Lamarr. According LatinoReview, Warner Brothers just signed a seven figure deal upfront to produce a futuristic film based on the Biblical figures, simply entitled, Samson.
Apparently, Warner Brothers was in a power struggle for the property, that involved three other major studios. Everybody wanted a piece, because of Samson’s potential to be a blockbuster. The writer for the film is Scott Silver, who penned the loose Eminem biopic, 8 Mile. I Am Legend director, Francis Lawrence will helm the film, and Erwin Stoff will produce.
If your not familiar with Samson or Delilah, they are two of the main figures in the Old Testament book, Judges. Samson was a man whom was given incredible strength from God, but lost it when he divuldged it’s source to the Philistine woman, Delilah. She spilled the beans that his super strength was rooted (literally) in his hair, and of course when his enemies found out about it they cut it all off, and captured him.
Isn’t that great, another story in the Bible that centers around a woman… who ruins everything.

I can't believe that the Samson property was fought over, like it's got a new catchy tale. It's as you said, the story of a woman who seduces a man and brings about his ruin. That story's so old it was already a cliche in the old testament.
