I’ve vaguely been paying attention to any news regarding the Lost Planet video game adaptation, for obvious reason’s but today something caught my eye. According to CHUD, during an interview with Capcom’s Corporate Officer Toshihiro Tokumaru, a bomb was dropped regarding what type of movie this is really going to be. The head honcho has big plans for this film, and when you want to make a big movie, you have to spend big money. Guess how much dough this guy is willing to part with for this passion project.
Find out after the jump.
When speaking about another Capcom adaptation Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, Tokumaru spoke a bit about Lost Planet’s price tag.
Lost Planet, that project will cost somewhere between 150 and 200 million dollars to make. The producer on the project is Avi Arad, producer of Spider-Man. I think that it is because of our original IPs that we are able to try something so ambitious.
That is ambitious! That’s in the same arena as The Dark Knight. I’m sure fan’s of the game are excited, because this means the producers are actually going to put effort into the film. Yet, I can’t help but wonder what their spending all this money on? I mean TDK had an Academy Award winning /nominated cast, writer, and director to pay. There was some amazing IMAX camera technology used, and a few well placed explosions. There was a method to it’s madness. What’s going to happen here?
Do you think Lost Planet can be produced at the same level as The Dark Knight?
