Whitford and Jenkins Cast in Whedon’s ‘Cabin’
By Krystal Clark
Writer/director Joss Whedon, who’s best known for his vampire-centric series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has an upcoming horror film on the horizon entitled The Cabin in the Woods. According to THR, Bradley Whitford, and Richard Jenkins have signed on to star in the campy horror fest. Whedon has penned the screenplay, while Drew Goddard is set to direct.
More on the casting after the jump.
Much like “Cloverfield,” which Goddard scripted, the “Cabin” story line provides a new twist on a classic scenario — in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope.
Goddard stated that Whitford and Jenkins were obvious choices for the film:
“It’s really just your basic typecasting: When you need two actors to run through the woods in low-cut nighties, you immediately think of Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford,” Goddard joked
Bradley Whitford is best known for his role on the NBC political drama The West Wing, as well as his stint on the short-lived Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Richard Jenkins on the other hand starred as John C. Reilly’s father in last year’s Step Brothers. The Cabin in the Woods, will be distributed by MGM, and is gearing up for a springtime shoot. The film’s release date is already set for February 5, 2010.
