Horrible Voice Over in 500 Days of Summer Trailer
By Mali Elfman
Who the hell was running the voice over for this trailer? It seems like he says 500 Days of Summer, 500 times and it’s so much louder than everything else in the trailer. This trailer looks like a cheesy Baz Luhrmann movie. I get that it’s a love story. The official synopsis states that it’s “An offbeat romantic comedy about a woman (Deschanel) who doesn’t believe true love exists, and the young man (Gordon-Levitt) who falls for her,” but something missed the boat with this trailer.
Check it out below. Maybe you can figure it out…
Seriously, does this entice you to go see the film? It’s not working for me.
Set for release July 24, 2009.

I wanna see this. Honestly. I usually hate movies like this, but it looks like what it is is a deconstruction of a real life love story. Showing the ups and downs and ultimately you know it will end. You aren't sitting there waiting for the happy ending I wouldn't think. You are really watching to see why you won't get your happy ending. Both trailers I think convey this well.
