Emmanuelle Chriqui, who starred in last summer’s Adam Sandler comedy Don’t Mess With the Zohan (above), has just landed a role in the American remake of 13. The film already includes Golden Globe winner Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, and Ray Winstone. The director of 13, Gela Babluani also helmed the films original French version in 2006.
More on 13 after the jump.
According to Cinematical, the American remake will keep some of the original elements from the first film, but won’t be a shot by shot reenactment.
The original film, released in 2006, centered on a young construction worker who in a desperate attempt to earn money for his family is swept up in a deadly game of Russian Roulette that has been turned into a ‘spectator sport’. There aren’t many details about the plot for the remake, but Babluani has confirmed that he will not be remaking the film ‘shot-for shot’, and that some of the story elements will be changed.
Chriqui may be best known for her role as Sloane, the on again off again girlfriend of Kevin Connelly’s character Eric, on HBO’s hit show Entourage. The actress recently co-starred in Cadillac Records alongside Adrien Brody, and Beyonce Knowles. Her newest project 13, is expected to hit theaters next year, and is currently in production.
