Over at IGN, they posted a quote from Spiderman director, Sam Raimi regarding some major casting news for the fourth installment. Raimi has voiced his interest in a certain villain for the next feature, and it’s not who you think. As seen in the previous films, Dr. Curt Connors, whom you may remember as Peter’s one armed professor, is eventually supposed to transform into The Lizard (according to the comics). He already has a presence in the movie franchise, so you would think Raimi would naturally go that route. Yet, the director has another person in mind, and he’s never been exposed on the big screen before.

Find out the possible baddie after the jump!

“I like it in the Marvel comics when Spider-Man fights Morbius… He’s really cool. A vampire! I like that combination of superhero plus supernatural.”

In the Spiderman comic, Dr. Michael Morbius transformed into a “vampire like” character after an experiment to cure his rare disease went terribly wrong. Instead of healing his ailment, the doctor was cursed with pale skin, red eyes, vampire thirst, and most notably the fangs! On the plus side, Morbius gained some super abilities that include, flying, super strength, and a special healing factor.

I don’t know if Raimi should go all Blade on us by writing in Morbius, nothing against the guy but I’m not particularly excited about this one.

After the Venom/Spiderman story do you feel comfortable with the writers addressing such dark content?

After all, wasn’t the third Spiderman supposed to be dark, and gloomy? Yeah, I didn’t get that from it either.
